No tipping
In Japan, tipping simply does not exist. In fact, America is the only country I've been to where there is any kind of tipping culture. And in Japan, I think trying to tip someone might be somewhat insulting, as it's implying that this particular service is exceptional, when it's probably their norm. It's like saying, "Wow, you didn't suck. What a surprise! I bet you're usually horrible. This is a special occasion, so here. Buy yourself some Mentos." It's a philosophy I agree with. I'll have to adjust my attitude pretty soon, though. Tip calculators on cell phones seem like such an oddity at this point...
